Driving 2 steppers and a servo

#1

Hi all, I’m going to purchase the XY plotter kit soon + some extra parts and I’ve got some questions:

  1. I’ve seen there’s a new stepper motor controller in the works, will this be added to the kit soon?

  2. How can I drive 2 steppers (from the kit) + 1 servo? I’d like to stick with the makebrick parts for the extra servo. Should I try and make an addapter to stack 2 me-base shields or can I use I2C broken out from a single base shield? I’ll probably be stacking the me-base ontop of another shield (prob a sensor shield v4 or v5) to break out the other functions I need as well.

  3. Does the makebrick software libraies support multiple me-base shields attacked to the one arduino?

Thanks!

Geordie

PS: Makebrick is freaken awesome

Hi Geordie,

  1. The new stepper motor diver will be on sale soon.

  2. Of course, you can drive 2 steppers + 1 servo from this kit.

  3. Our libraries did not support multiple me-base shields attacked to the one arduino.

Thanks for your support!

Thanks for the fast response Eric!

Will the XY plotter kit be ammended to use the new stepper motor driver?

I know how to do this directly with the Arduino but how would you connect this up using only Makeblock components?

Thanks!

Hi Geordie,

  1. The XY plotter kit will not use the new stepper motor driver.

  2. As you can see from the following picture shows we offer a cable that can connect our old stepper driver with Me-Base Shield directly. Then you can connect the servo driver to Port1 ot Port2 on Me-Base Shield.

Perfect, thanks again!
