Connecting dc motors to the Megapi

#1

Thinking of replacing my Orion with the Megapi on my Starter chassis. I know I can use the two high power motor connectors for the motors from the Starter, but if I were to use on of the four designated motor ports (fitted with the encoder module), can I connect both motors to one port? In the green connector on the Megapi board, each port has four pins. That’s my basis for the question. If not and using the ports are a possibility, how would I use the two wire plug from the motor (as wired for the Starter bot)? In other words, would I use the left two pins, the center two or the right two? Or do I need to replace the existing connector with a four pin? Looking at the learn page for the Megapi, in the diagrams for the motor connection types using the ports, it appears the bottom picture depicting a DC motor connection uses a two pin connector. I just can’t tell how the connection is made.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Got the answers. Two DC motors per port - eight total. Going to replace the board tomorrow and try things out!

got the digital output (the ones between the power switch and the USB port to fire after asking this question on the dropbox doc of the MegaPI Schematic

i asked...

how do you send power to those two high power outputs?

I did the board replacement and very happy with results. I’d already bought the DC/encoder motor drivers, so i simply used one of those. Very simple. Once we’d worked out the TFT issues, it works wonderfully. Love the extra memory, but I sure wish there were more than four ports.
Great board tho.
