I have an MBot that is in a continual state of flashing and beeping. How can I reset the mbot?
Circuit Board Repeating Tones and Beeping - won't stop
When asking for this sort of help, we need to know the following:
- Operating System
- Version of mBlock
- WiFi or Bluetooth (optional, but helpful in some cases)
If you are using mBlock 3.4.11 (the latest stable production version), you would:
- Connect the mBot to your computer via the USB cable.
- Launch mBlock.
- Select the Boards menu item and click the mBot (mCore) item.
- Select the Connect menu and use the Serial Port associated with the USB cable (varies depending on Operating System).
- Select “Upgrade Firmware” or “Restore Default Program” from the Connect menu.
If you are using mBlock 5 (which is still in beta), you would:
- Connect the mBot to your computer via the USB cable.
- Launch mBlock.
- Click the plus sign button under Devices and select the mBot (if it does not appear. By default the CodeyBot appears on new projects).
- Click the Connect button.
- You will get a dialog box that shows the device and offers to do firmware updates.
- Click the Updates button to update the firmware.
- Restart the mBot after the update has finished.
This should restore your mBot to factory condition.

I am using the bluetooth version with mBlock 3.4.11.
I followed these steps. Actually restored to default and then upgraded the firmware. Bot still does not work. Will not show bluetooth device so I cannot connect. I have several mbots so I tried using a different bluetooth module still does not work. Repeat beep with blue light flashing on circuit board. Any other ideas?
Are you using the Makeblock Bluetooth dongle? If you are using MacOS, you’ll need it due to the way that Mojave handles Bluetooth.
@tech_support, any ideas?
Usually we use USB cable to connect mBlock(PC version) and mBot;
For Bluetooth connection, we use mobile devices line pad and phones and you can install App: Makeblock, and mBlock
If you want to connect Bluetooth with computer, you need a Makeblock Bluetooth dongle.
In very few cases, some Bluetooth module can can connect to Computer built-in Bluetooth. If you wanna check that, take a photo of the Bluetooth module for me.
@cbennett, please take a video of the issue that “repeat beep with blue light flashing”, including reset process.
