Can't get WiFi working

#1

Heyy,

I’m a proud owner of a Makeblock Me WiFi module. I’ve found a manual that should help me get it up to date. Unfortunately, it is already wrong with step 1.
In the manual says, “After the Wi-Fi module is connected the main board, …”, I thought that this meant that you were meant to join the GND to ground and the VCC to 5V. I tried that, but then a blue light should flash. This does not happen and I do not see him on my pc either.

I’m a beginner in this world and wondered if somebody can help me?

May I assume that you are using the DIY points on the module? If so, can you post a picture of how you have the module wired? Also, what are you attempting to connect it to? If it’s a Makeblock kit, they use a Dupont cable to one of the non-motor ports on the “motherboard.”

thanks for your respond!!

Because I really do not know how this works, I tried the following. I have an Arduino connected to PC. From this arduino I caught the ground and 5v.

After searching what more online, I found that there were also mainboards of makeblock. Is it only possible to do this with a mainboard, or could it be a Arduino as well?

I’m not sure if this module only works with the Makeblock boards (which are Arduino-based). I do know that if you do not capture the Transmit (Tx) and Receive (Rx) lines then the LED may not respond. My suggestion is to contact @tec_support and work with them directly as I haven’t tried to do what you are attempting. Fortunately, they are pretty responsive and helpful.

Here is an article on the learning site (link) for the Me WiFi module.

The Me wifi module is our customized wifi module special for the makeblock main boards like Orion boards.
When using the Orion board, normally it is supposed to connect to RJ25 Port 5 on Orion board.

Since the Me Orion board is base on the Arduino uno, you may need to figure out the pins on RJ25 Port corresponding to which pins on Arduino uno, then connect the Wifi module to the correct pins and use the example programs from Makeblock library have a try.

Here is the link where you can check the schematics of the Me Orion board.
