I wonder if all the available Makeblock sensor modules can be connected to mbot, provided the color of the connectors match. I am particularly interested in the accelerometer (http://wiki.makeblock.cc/index.php?title=Me-3_Axis_Accelerometer_and_Gyro_Sensor).

The Me-3 Axis Accelerometer and Gyro Sensor is compatible with mBot. If you like, raspberry Pi shield can work with mBot!

thanks for your response. I now have bought a RPI shield, but not yet tested it with the mbot.
However, I wonder if the mbot ports provides a hardware serial port. According to the wiki, your color code for this interface is grey, and there are no grey ports on the mbot port.

You should not go for the direct connection. Check all the pins of you mbot and also match your requirement.
If you find both compatible then go for thr direct connections. According to my observation the ME 3-Axis accelerometer and the Gyro sensor is compatible with the mbot without any problem.
Also raspberry pi is comaptible with the mbot.
