Bluetooth Starter Kit not working properly

#1

Hi, I have the bluetooth starter kit. When I use the android app the normal directional controller (8 directions and speed) doesn’t work at all. If I replace the directional controller with the joystick then this sort of works, tracks spin randomly, there seems to be no forward or backwards no matter which direction the joystick is in and at times one of the tracks spins even when the joystick is not being used. When I connect the app the bluetooth blue light goes solid blue.

I have:

  • have upgraded to the latest firmware have
  • checked all of the cables are in the correct port
  • have independently
  • tested the motors work
  • tried scratch but this doesn’t seem to work at all

Can anyone help please?

@paul.k.clark, whats your mobile model and the system version? how did you tried to connect the bluetooth, through app itself or via setting in your mobile? please try both way, if the problem still exist, you can send email to us by support@makeblock.cc, thanks!

I have the exact same issue as Paul. Quite frustrating after getting the kids to sit and build this kit they are unable to do anything other than watch it move in random directions.
I have uploaded the latest firmware, I am able to connect via bluetooth however cannot control the direction of the bot.

Please help.

Hi, I’ve a problem similar to Paul.
I’ve managed to put the Starter robo exploring the house on is own by activating or deactivating the ultrasonic sensor. I’m also able to change the robot speed through the app on Android (tried on a tablet with 4.1 and on a smartphone with 6.0, the problem is the same on both).
Directional buttons do not work on the app.
2015-12-29 Update: I’ve added the Joystick module to the App and it does control de robot. The legacy controls do not work at all.

Help please.

Hi, for those that have had a similar problem to me here are a few things that I found out thanks to the excellent support from Makeblock.

  1. The wiring for the motor plugs in the book is just a guide when it
comes to order of wires. Swap around the wires until the track on
the appropriate side goes the correct direction.
  2. For the scratch program use the download at mblock.cc (not the one at makeblock.cc)
  3. Uploading the firmware can be done through the scratch program.
This may need to be done multiple times before it works. Upload and
try a simple program to see if it works. Support must have uploaded
my firmware at least twenty times before it worked.
  4. When running scratch programs the on/off switch needs to be turned on, even
though the board looks like its working when the USB plug is in

Lastly if you are still having problems create your own forum post. I got told to contact support (as shown above). I got quality one on one support (a good few hours worth) taking me through all sorts of things until finally everything worked.
