Bluetooth problems on Mac

#1

Hi everyone,

I got my mBot last week and everything was going great for bluetooth connection. Since last weekend, I can only connect to it with my phone or iPad but not from a Mac anymore. The Makeblock connections in the Mac starts but fails right after. And stays in disconnected after that. Anyone experienced a similar issue ?

I tried updating the mbot firmware, resetting to the default program, etc. But to no avail…

Thanks !

Steve

Pairing with the Mac:

  1. Make sure the mBot is not already paired with another device
  2. Pair the mBot with the Mac
  3. Open mBlock
  4. Open the Connect->Serial Port menu item and select /dev/tty.Makeblock-ELETSPP

That’s how I connect via Bluetooth to my Mac.

Yeah sadly this is working well for me last week.

I have disabled all other devices that could pair with it (shutdown bluetooth on my phone, ipad, etc.) and since this week, it never pais in the mac. It pairs then disconnects and never reconnects.

Hmm, ok so I was fiddling with my mBot after using it in a Maker Faire last weekend on an earlier version of mBlock (3.3.8). I’ve since upgraded to 3.4.1 and did the following just now:

  1. Start mBlock
  2. Connect the USB Cable
  3. Connect mBlock to the mBot
  4. Upgrade the firmware
  5. Reset the default program
  6. Disconnect the USB cable
  7. Connect via the Bluetooth module

Everything appeared to work for me. If you have upgraded your version of mBlock it is important to upgrade the firmware ASAP. I also reset the default program to put the mBot back into “factory condition.”
