Bluetooth light goes off when USB unplugged

#1

Hello. I have the mBot V 1.1. We assembled the device and connected to the PC via USB and downloaded the newest firmware. I downloaded the mBlock app for my iPad and turned on Bluetooth. With the mBot is connected to the PC, the blue Bluetooth light remains lit and I go through the tutorial just fine. As soon as I unplug the mBot from the computer. the Bluetooth light goes out and the iPad app switches to searching for connection.

How do I get the Bluetooth to remain on after I unplug it from the computer?

Just tried that … my mBot keeps a Bluetooth connection with my Android phone even when I unplug it.

May I assume that you have batteries connected to the mBot Ranger and that the power switch is on? Just wondering…

Yes. All the other lights stay on. It’s just the bluetooth module’s blue light that fades the moment it is disconnected from the USB.

Hi thergenrade,

I suspect the robot can’t get enough power from the battery only when removed the USB connection.
Please change the battery for mBot have a try.

Normally, the blue led on the Bluetooth module should be slow flashing when the Bluetooth is disconnected.
And the blue LED should be solid on after the Bluetooth got connected with some device.

Thank you! The AA batteries were indeed bad. That fixed the problem.
