Basic question - Motor wire terminals/connector blocks

#1

This seems a ridiculously simply question, but what are the orange block connectors used to connect meduino to the DC motors? Anywhere I can buy the connector blocks separately to the motors?

Illustration of the connectors/blocks I’m talking about at http://twitpic.com/duzj94

Hi, ostephens, you can refer the pictures below to connect the baseshield and DC motor through orange block connectors.

First, unscrew the screws on the orange block connectors, then stick the white line into the slots.

On the other side, just stick the slot on the DC motor.

Thanks Johnny - my question is where can I get the orange block connectors (what are they called, and where can I order them from?), and similarly what connectors are on the wires - some kind of solder less connector I guess, but again - can I order the wires separately, and if so, where from?

Hi, ostephens, again.

I’m sorry for misunderstand your question. The name of orange block connectors is Terminal Blocks, the model is KEFA HT396K (‘396’ means that the distance between two threaded hole is 3.96mm).

Did you mean that there is no block in the kits you bought from Makeblock? If so, we are very sorry for that mistake. Is there any shop of electronic component in local? I thought you can find both the wire and block in there. Or, do you have any plan to buy something from Makeblock recently? If so, we will send you some free of charge.

Or, you can just solder the wire between motor and Baseshield directly.

Thanks Johnny - I got a basic Makeblock kit for Christmas so didn’t order myself, but it came from the The Little British Robot Company and didn’t have the blocks - I wasn’t sure if this was an oversight or whether they weren’t included in the kit.

I can check if I can source the blocks locally, or contact the Little British Robot Company to see if they can supply.

Thanks again

Owen
