mBot v1 either not connecting or immediately disconnecting from mBlock v5.6 on Windows

hello everyone, in my classroom we’ve the chromebooks, and i use the mlink and the web-based mblock to program and connect/upload etc… to connect the v1 mbot to the mblock using the usb port…works great.

on my home pc, a windows 10 system i use the mblock v5.6 windows app, connect over the usb all works great…
on my work laptop however, i either get a ‘cannot connect’ error OR i get ‘connected’ then immediately disconnected.
ive tried over and over. ive tried different cables, different usb ports, even a different mbot v1.
ive uninstaleld all the mblock versions of the s/w on the laptop, the mlink, etc…
reinstalled the mblock v5.6

same thing, either doesnt conect or immediate disconnection
my laptop for school is upto date windows update wise…
im not sure what this is?

What Windows version do you have on your work laptop? Also, do you have any special work software or firewalls on it?

windows 10, latest updates, this system used to be fine. ive updated the firmware on the mbots (using anothr system), still no go, ill check firewall and try again wit hthem disabled.

Just checked and I also have this issue on mBlock 5.6. Looks like a bug with connection in general, I would report it to support@makeblock.com.

Have you tried Bluetooth connection? My laptop won’t let mBot connect via Bluetooth but it might work.

@Best_codes @magicmarc the Online IDE is not broken, at least in my experience. I will report this (but I am using Windows 8.1, so I cant use the desktop version.)
