Liquid color painting - spraying

#1

XY Plotter seems to be a good start for ink images. But what about water or generally liquid painting? What about painting on other surfaces than paper?Like fabric, canvas, wood etc… In such case you may need to spray the color and not touch the surface.

One solution could to be to have a bottle like a syringe which is filled with color ink and apply pressure to the moving part of the syringe in order to extrude the liquid color. This could be used in any surface… at least theoretically…My thoughts are that we can use a stepper motor with a spinning head (instead of a solenoid) to apply constant pressure to the syringe. But the syringe needs to be refilled really frequently.

One other solution would be to attach an airbrush to the XY plotter and just use a solenoid to pull the trigger.

Can anybody think of stucture that can be attached to the XYplotter in order to perform such a thing?I would like to hear your thoughts on solutions to achieve painting without touching the surface…
