Older laserbox but want new software

I have an older laser box laser cutter and would love to be able to use the newer and more detailed X tool software. How do I update it to connect to my laser cutter. Love the cutter but not the older software as it is very limited for detailed drawing and design creation. My students need more options for drawing tools.

Try backing up the old software, downloading the new one and seeing if it works.

Tried that but it when I connect the laserbox while in Xtool it recognizes it but only give a CONNECTION FAILED result.
I think the software is not backwards compatible for some reason. Seems odd to make another, more detailed and capable, laser design software and not make compatible with your existing machines. There must be a reason.

Has anyone had any luck using Lightburn with the Laserbox Pro ?
