No power without USB cable

Purchased a starter robot kit and assembled per directions. When the bot is turned on, we get no power, no lights, no movement, no sounds, nothing. We have 6 fresh AA batteries installed and power switch on.

When we connect the USB from the computer, the lights come on. Do we have a defective board?

Hi Don1,

Do you have the 12V/2A power adapter?
If possible, please try power on the Starter with an external power adapter (12V/2A). Then we can check if the issue is on the battery holder or the batteries.
