Newbie needs help with disconnected Mbot

#1

I got my son the mBot for Christmas. It worked great on Christmas day, but eventually the remote stopped working. The only way we know to control the robot is via the remote, so I ordered a replacement from the manufacturer. That came today, so we were excited to fire up the mBot. Unfortunately, when I use the remote with the mBot (and the mBot is disconnected from the computer), it sort of goes crazy - it makes all kinds of beeping sounds and the lights turn different colors. However, when the mBot is connected to the computer via the serial cable, the remote works fine and I can control the robot.

I have tried upgrading the firmware and resetting it to the default program, but nothing changes this pattern of behavior. Do you guys have any advice for me?

Thank you!

Scott from Chattanooga

Get fresh batteries? I recommend rechargeable batteries like Eneloops.
