mCore - M1 & M2 port max current rating

#1

Hi there,

I would like to upgrade the motors on my mBot, and I was wondering what the maximum usable current draw is on the on-board motor ports. Based on the motor that comes with the mBot as standard, I am assuming it would be in the ±200mA range, but I am failing in finding definitive information about it. I am hoping someone might now the actual specification on this.

In addition to this, does the mCore controller have build-in over-current protection on its motor ports?

Here isthe link with the electronic schematic of mCore to you for reference.

Hi tech_support,

Thanks for the schematic. It helped a lot.

Good to know the mCore uses a TB6612 driver on the motors which can handle 1.2A per channel.

It seems like it will be able to handle the Tamiya 70168 Double Gearbox Kit. As long as it does not stall for too long :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
