mBot2 Smart Camera

#1

I just bought the smart camera and I am unable to install pixymon2 software on any of my computers due to security settings and antivirus program. The error message is No pixy devices have been detected. When I checked pixymon documentation, this is caused by drivers not installed due to antivirus software or security settings on the PC.

Is there another software I can use other than pixymon? I am really having issue with this.

Meanwhile, the camera came with 0 instructions on set up. I have attached a wire from the camera to the battery (picture) below and another wire from the battery to the spare mBlock port that is underneath on the RGB sensor. Can someone help to verify if this is correct? At first, I connected the wire to the ultrasonic sensor’s port instead of RGB sensor. But since the port is free on the RGB sensor, I thought that’s better.

Can I connect the wire from the Camera to the Ultrasonic Sensor? It just looks and feel wrong to connect from the Battery to a mBlock port.

@ivorymoose

As far as your issues, are you able to disable your antivirus software temporarily?

As far as documentation about the smart camera, these might be of use to you:

Hello @Best_codes Thanks for your reply. I am able to disable the firewall in my workplace temporarily to allow Pixymon to be installed. I am also able to install it on my home compute after deleting antivirus softwares and changing Windows or Microsoft security settings. However, my home computer is too old to be used with Makeblock’s web application, the error is hardware incompatibility for bluetooth. I can however use the desktop version. In the end, I am using my work PC which is new.

I’ve been doing some study on the pixy2 camera. I am assuming the mBot2’s camera is a version of the pixy2 camera. Can the Pixy2 Camera be used with mBot2 instead of Makeblock’s smart camera?

One of the youtube videos claim that Pixy2 camera has extensive code library in C++ and Python.

As for trying out sample codes from Youtube videos, I have not tried that yet. I tried the object color recognition but I’m clumsy and need more practice.
