List of firmware/softwares known to be working together

#1

Hey guys.

I’ve recently built my xy plotter with the laser module. After much struggle with the correct firmware/software pairs, i’ve settled with mDraw 1.2 and the firmware provided by that.

It’s nice for the start but i’d like to use more advanced features Benbox provides. But while i’ve tried most of the roms, i couldn’t get Benbox work together with the firmware.

My question is if you happen to have a working pair (like "Benbox v3.7 with Uno.Rom.XXXXXXXX) please come forward. Better yet if you could provide a link that would be awesome. It would save so much time for the beginners like myself.

Thanks.

Hi Aerovisual,

Here is the link to download the software and User Manual, you can get all the info you need(Download the one under 5 Resources): http://learn.makeblock.com/xy-plotter-robot-kit/
After you download the file, you can find the benbox software installation box under this path: \XY Plotter V2.0 User Guide DownLoad Pack(English)\XY Plotter V2.0 User Guide DownLoad Pack(English)\Main Software
When you use the benbox to upgrade the firmware, go to file 3.7.99->roms and choose the file (makeblock-328-20150606.hex).

I had similar problems and found these combinations to work for the Orion (UNO) board:

Benbox 2.12.45 with the 20141225 rom (makeblock-328p-20141225.hex)
Benbox 3.3.80 with the 20141225 rom (makeblock-328p-20141225.hex)

Other versions caused these issues:
Benbox 3.6.96 with 20150606 rom (makeblock-328p-20150606.hex)
the steppers “bounce back” when the limit switches are pressed
Benbox 3.6.96 with 20141225 rom (makeblock-328p-20141225.hex)
nothing happens (but maybe I just didn’t configure the outputs correctly)

The older/working versions (2.12.45 & 3.3.80) can be found here: http://learn.makeblock.com/laser-engraver-update-for-xy-plotter-v2-0/

I have similar issues myself with Benbox 3.7.99 and firmware makeblock-328p-20150606.hex.
Does anyone have this working? The laser and pen turn off and on and pen goes up and down but no movement of X or Y

Also, using mDraw does anyone have issues with Jitter - meaning that the carriage runs into the limit switch but the software keeps pushing the motors forward regardless of the switch? Sounds horrible when it does.

Hi Bryan_Tuttle,

For the issue on benbox, please check if you have connected to the correct Serial port when upgrade the firmware.
Besides, is it possible to change another PC?

For the issue you mentioned on mDraw, actually the limit switches only work when you click Home button. Please click Home button on mDraw and see if the carriage works properly when it touches the limit switch.

Thanks. I will test it out both suggestions and will let you know.
