IOT Wifi / Weather

#1

Hi Makeblock team,

I’ve added the IOT extionsion to mBlock, connected Cody to the Wifi and now want to simply display the weather for my location. I use “show weather in Berlin until done” but nothing happens. Could you please provide an example for getting this to work?

Thanks and kind regards, Tom

Go to "三” icon and select “example programs”>“IoT”, here are 3 programs for whether.

Hi,

ok, I did not noticed the IOT examples yet, but as I look at them, they do nearly the same what I’ve tried already. And they don’t work:

Example 1: Green LED + after a while screen shows: request Time out / Your browser didn’t send a complete request in time
Example 2: Green LED + initial image but after pressing A no changes
Example 3: Green LED + initial image + creation of the Cloud item but after pressing A nothing happens

What’s wrong?

Thanks and kind regards, Tom

Hi Tom,

I tried again because I already use the IoT to get the weather and it worked.
Today, I connect to the WIFI and I have a green light.
However, when I press button A, the screen remains blank.
I notice the following code is gray and it can not be changed.
The Makeblock server may not work or is broken temporarily?

Hi Crackel,

maybe it’s grayed out because you’re not logged in anymore?
I’m using mblock 5.0.0. beta 3.1 and these blocks are available to me (but still not working).

Kind regards, Tom

Hi Tost and Crackel,
Try to logon in the right up corner.

Oups.

2018-07-06%2008_14_25-mBlock

But the display is still empty after pressing the A button unlike the last time.
I’m using mblock 5.0.0. beta 3.1

I already was logged in (otherwise the blocks would be grayed out, have a look at Crackels screen print).
I’ve mentioned that there are severals login choices and I now switched to the Internalional version but still the HTTP Request is not working (HTTP-Error 408, request time out, Browser didn’t send a complete request).
So, any idea?

Hi Crackel,
I am afraid in your program, there is no wifi connection process, like below:
image
So you will know led will be green when wifi connected and it can get weather precast from the internet.
You can simply upload the example programs to Codey Rocky to have a check.

#10

Hi Tost,
Sorry, your issue is not the same as Crackel’s.
I tried to test the example program and everything works fine. Would you please take the whole screen shot of the error page “time out”?
Please don’t use international version account but Chinese version, then upload the example program to your Codey Rocky.

#11

Hey TechSupport,

it’s not possible to take a screenshot, the error message is shown on Codey’s display.
I will try again tomorrow with an unsecured Wifi, maybe it’s a firewall setting.

Thanks and kind regards, Tom

#12

Ok, me everything is functional

#13

Hi Tom,
Please check if there any special setting of the wireless network or try to connect to another wifi. The error message shows that network is not feedback the result. Or try another region?
By the way, when upload example 1, will the light become green?

#14

Hi TechSupport,

ok, it’s a firewall setting which disturbed the connection (I previously connected to the Guests/IOT WLAN where only browsing the Internet and some minor rights are granted).
So it’s working fine now, added may sample code (texts are in german): Weather.zip (7.0 KB)

Button C for Wifi (add your connection first)
Button B to retrieve the weather data
Button A to display data

Thanks and kind regards, Tom

Glad to hear that. And thank you for sharing that with us.
By the way, once you turned off windows firewall and issue fixed? Or you have any special firewall setting?

#16

Hi TechSupport,

no, it wasn’t a Windows firewall setting.
I’ve an AccessPoint with two Wifis. On the one for the guests it’s only allowed to use HTTP/HTTPS and thats not working with Codey. It seems it needs other ports to be opened.
I don’t want to change the Guest-Wifi settings and now use the regular Wifi without this restriction.

Thanks again and kind regards, Thomas

Oh, I see. Thanks for that sharing.
