Cutting laser Settings

#1

Hello I would like to know your settings with the BENBOX Makeblock 500mw laser for cutting various materials.
What are your settings for cutting :

  • leather
  • wood
  • Cardboard and paper
in advance thank you and goodbye.

To obtain the correct settings, I just use the trial and error method.

In gcode I tell the laser and x-y-plotter to cut several lines at different power settings (I use ttl on the original makeblock laser). the travel speed remains the same, unless I don’t see any lines at max power.

its a 2-in-1 process since I can also measure the alignment with real world measurements.
I store the material and write down the optimal power settings for each method (engraving, cutting etc. material)
so when I need it I can use that test material as comparison. (in my case the RPM of the spindle = power setting over ttl)

when you don’t use ttl input:
do the same thing but with variable travel speed with the laser on.
10 mm/min burns a lot more than 100 mm/min.

with powerful diode lasers you may cut up to 8 mm of plywood and acylic: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=endurance+laser+cutting

hope that you will like it!
