Connecting Ranger to Chromebook via Bluetooth or wifi

#1

I have a Lenovo 500E Chromebook with all its updates. The Chromebook has the latest version of the mBlock app installed on it.

I have an mBot Ranger v1.3 with the latest firmware installed. I can connect the robot to the bluetooth on my Chromebook without error.

I also have an older mbot core with a 2.4G wifi card and USB dongle. It also has the latest firmware.

Whenever I open the mBlock software and attempt to connect the Ranger via Bluetooth I get an error that says that it is only compatible on Chromebooks using USB.

In addition to that I watched a bunch of how to videos and they all connect to a makerblock app. With either of my robots I can connect to the chromebook with the wireless or the Bluetooth but then when I try to connect them to the makerblock app they are not listed.

But I have emails from Makeblock support, specifically from may.zheng@makeblock.com that insists that it should work over Bluetooth on the Chromebook.

So how do I get my Ranger to connect via Bluetooth or wifi to my Chromebook?

Hi NOCCA,
I think what May talk about is below:

But for our mBlock software, it only supports mBot/Ranger/… in USB cable connection with Chromebook.

Thank you. That is very helpful.

From a customer perspective I feel that Chromebook support is something worth striving for. I really like your robots and would like to buy them for all our science classes at my school but without wireless/bluetooth Chromebook support I can’t do it.

If it isn’t already on the dev team’s radar, I would love to let them know.
