Cannot connect via bluetooth from Makeblock app

I want to use Makeblock app on Google Pixel Android or iPad but I can’t connect mBot via Bluetooth.
I see an empty list. The blue light on mBot is blinking. I checked the power - using 4xAA batteries fully charged.

I can’t connect via Bluetooth also from http://editor.makeblock.com/ide.html# and mBlock v5 RC from MS Windows 10. I can’t see mBot on MS Windows between Bluetooth devices and from Android and iPad is it the same.

Tested on both firmwares, after upload, I restarted mBot and Makeblock app.
If I update via USB firmware for IR remote, remote works fine and can’t see/connect mBot from any device. If I upload firmware for mBlock I can’t control via remote and do not see mBot as well.

@tech_support any hint appreciated.

Other than that mBot work correctly with remote control. Via USB I can upload short programs to control the mBot.

I checked FAQs for mBot robot Bluetooth section and it did not help.

Hi valasek,
When did you purchase the mBot?
Please have a look of the Bluetooth module (take a photo for me), as the new version doesn’t support Bluetooth connection with PC (mLink or mBlock 5).
For the phone Bluetooth connection, are they able to connect other Bluetooth devices?
What are their exact system version?
Have you enabled GPS on the phone?
Are they working before?

What is the software version when you try to update for mBot?

mBot was bought on 11.12.2017 in https://www.alza.cz/. Photo of Bluetooth module is attached.

I am and was able to connect other Bluetooth devices from my phone. I have GPS module on my phone but I am not sure if it was enabled. Is it interfering with Bluetooth module? Should it be disabled? I am using Android version 9.

I updated mBot firmware using http://editor.makeblock.com/ide.html# via option firmware for mBot. How can I find which version was uploaded. I did it 4 days ago - 18.2.

I am not sure with these two questions, if you need answers, please clarify:

  • What are their exact system version?
  • Are they working before?

This is 2.4G module, not Bluetooth module, therefore your mBot with this module cannot work with Phone app.
2.4G module works with PC software–mBlock (latest 3.4.11), you should also have a 2.4G dongle in the package.
If you want to use phone App (Makeblock/mBlock) to control it, you can buy a Bluetooth module to replace the 2.4G module. Here is Bluetooth module:
