Benbox keeps crashing

#1

Hi,

I installed Benbox on my computer and no matter which version I use, the program “run_mini.exe” keeps crashing when I start Benbox. Is this a known problem?

If needed I can copy the windows event log entry here.

Best regards,
Mike

Have you looked through http://forum.makeblock.cc/t/laser-engraver-software-update-for-xy-plotter-v2-0-v2-02-benbox-2-12-45/869/2? Maybe your running an older version? Eventlogs would help as it might hint why it’s crashing

Yes, I went through the page and tested all versions of Benbox. Even the latest release from their original page. No success.

The error I get is:
Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung: run_mini.exe, Version: 0.0.0.0, Zeitstempel: 0x2a425e19
Name des fehlerhaften Moduls: KERNELBASE.dll, Version: 6.1.7601.18869, Zeitstempel: 0x556363bc

Fehleroffset: 0x0000c42d
ID des fehlerhaften Prozesses: 0x278

Pfad des fehlerhaften Moduls: C:\Windows\syswow64\KERNELBASE.dll

Sorry that the log prefixes are in German but I guess the values are self explaining.

Finally I found a workaround/solution. If I “run Benbox as administrator” it seems to work fine. So it looks like a permission problem.

Here it is in English:

Name of misapplication : run_mini.exe , Version : 0.0.0.0 , time stamp : 0x2a425e19
Name of the faulty module : KERNELBASE.dll , Version : 6.1.7601.18869 , time stamp : 0x556363bc
Exception code : 0x0eedfade
Error offset : 0x0000c42d
ID of the faulty process : 0x278
Start time of misapplication : 0x01d0b02c831366aa
Path of misapplication : C : \ Program Files \ Benbox \ run_mini.exe
Path of the faulty module : C : \ windows \ syswow64 \ KERNELBASE.dll
Report ID : c14ba7d3-1c1f - 11e5 - bbb3-000a3a6cf657

Unfortunately, that doesn’t give any clues as to why it’s crashing. Have you tried running this on another PC? How about a reinstall?

As I wrote: The solution seems to be to run it as administrator. (Just as a remark: It doesn’t matter which version I use or if uninstall cleanly and re-install – it keeps crashing without admin rights.)

However, I switched now to mDrawBot, which works fine for me. Accordingly, there is no need for me to try experimenting further with Benbox…

Mike
