Alternative way using DXF and GCODE Mac or PC

#1

Although mLaser works on Mac, I found it completely useless…till now!!!

Finally I encountered a method with excellent results using Mac. It also works in PC. It’s relatively easy and there are no errors.

Steps 1 to 5 can be made in Mac, PC, Linux, Android…etc.

1—Make the drawing in any CAD program in the positive quadrant.
2—Export DXF file of the area to cut
3—In any web browser open https://cnc-apps.com/en/app/dxf2gcode.This free app will convert the DXF file into GCODE.
Load the DXF and select Plasma cutting Type
Convert & generate the output file whose extension will be EIA.
4—Post-process the EIA file with https://cnc-apps.com/en/app/replaceingcode. Paste in the replacement commands window this suggestion
G21=M4 P0
G90=
G00=G00 F2000
G01=G01 F300
M15=M4 P222
M16=M4 P0
You may play with the F and P values according to the type of media and the desired results.
5.Generate the output file and rename the EIA extension into GCODE
6 In mLaser choose GCODE mode and load this file. Finish will initiate the Mlaser cut.
7 If the final render dimensions are not suitable you may scale the GCODE file using https://cnc-apps.com/en/app/scale_part
8 There are many other free tools to play with in https://cnc-apps.com/en/

Any suggestions please let me know.
Cheers

Hi Holyholo,

Thank you for your post!

I’ll try it soon, because I have problems with the scaling of DXF files from te beginning.
Maybe this is the solution to get a DXF (in mm) in the right size in mLaser.

On the other hand, I had a post with this scaling problem, and many with me, and that is closes in June '17 but not with a solution.

I must say that the after sale service from the product manufacturer is very poor, so is the software.

I own the Laserbot now for more than a year, but I had no 1:1 cutting project successful trough the scaling problems…

Hello Ruud,
Customer service in awful
mLaser is terrible
So we need to help ourselves.
The system I found works well. In my case the scale factor is 0.98.
Hope you good luck
