Accurate (e.g. Encoder or Stepper?) motors for mBot

#1

The mBot is almost perfect for schools but… it doesn’t do straight lines well!

Schools have used robots like these to draw simple shapes since the 1980s. It would be great if mBot could do something similar. It doesn’t need to be as complex as the what the Drawbot can do.

I see that you are now selling Encoder motors. Are they compatible with mBot or the Starter Robot Kit. Do they need extra coding or do they work just like regular motors with Scratch (but run at the same speed)?

There’s a opensource project called Microbot that claims to have made a robot that would do what I want. (And economically). My ideal robot for education would be a combination of this and the mBot!

Hello,

I am also interested in this point. Are the the encoder motors compatible to the Starter Robot Kit?
And also: With which motor type (encoder or stepper) is a more accurate control possible?

Thank you
