mBot connecting to OS X

#1

I can connect and control the mBot using the mBot app on my iPhone. Using my MacBook Pro, OS X 10.10.3, the Mac bluetooth says it’s connected to “Makeblock” and the mBlock app on the Mac says it’s connected to "/dev/tty.Makeblock-ELETSPP. The mBlock screen doesn’t change showing the mBot and the mBot doesn’t have the green light showing like it does when connected tot he iOS app. On my Mac, I’ve installed the arduino driver (FTDIUSBSerialDriver_V2_2_18) and the mBot driver, CH34xInstall.pkg.

Any suggestions how to proceed? I’m at a loss…

I believe you may need to update the Bluetooth firmware. I know this was an issue before. How about over USB? Can you connect that way?

I installed the Orion package as mentioned in the Makeblock academy. It includes a package called “CH34xinstall.pkg”. I also changed the boot parameters as explained for Yosemite. Have you seen that?

I’m now able to connect to the mBot via bluetooth and upload new software via mBlock.
I also used Arduino 1.6.5 IDE to re-create my factory settings.

By the way: Did you know you are lucky? My iPhone 4 does not connect to the mBot via bluetooth! :sob:

Bummer! Sorry to hear the iPhone 4 won’t connect. I’m guessing it’s bluetooth isn’t up to it. I finally got the mBot connected to my Mac. Now I’m fighting another problem. sigh…
