Just rechecked assembly, wiring and upgraded firmware successfully.
However, RGB left and right LED lights do not turn on. Battery (4x AA) works as other lights come on and mBot makes sounds when switched on.
Any suggestions please?

The only thing we’ve done via PC was to update firmware.
However out of box assembly has not been successful as the RGB LED lights do not come on. The robot does not move. We have also put batteries in the remote. However remote does not control it either.
Upgrade Firmware” will allow you control the mBot from mBlock,
but it will disable the IR remote controller and switching mode
with the on-top button; “Reset Default Program” will enable
these functions like the mBot has just come from the factory,

Hi Ezra
David said it correct, you need to reset default program for mBot instead of upgrading firmware if you want to play the mBot in its default working modes.
There is a post with FAQs for mBot to you for reference and you can refer to FAQ number 2 to reset default program.
